My experience at the Extended Stay America – Atlanta (Buckhead location) could hardly have been worse. Price - My friend made the reservation on-line, and the price that we were quoted was about half what was actually charged. It seems that we were charged the walk-up rate somehow. I was not involved with this part, so I'm not sure exactly what happened except that no one at the front desk could help resolve this and he was given a customer service number to call. As far as I know this is still up in the air. In any case, the front desk person indicated that this happens frequently and generally makes customers irate(go figure). It's likely one of the primary reasons that all of the staff seem to hate the hotel management. Kitchen supplies - We were staying a week, and there was a brochure on the kitchen counter, “Customize Your Kitchen.” We had brought food in an effort to economize, so I requested dishes, cooking supplies, a toaster and a coffee maker. The front desk person told me that they didn't have any of that. That it all gets stolen and the hotel never bothers to replace it. Given that this answer seemed somewhat unlikely and I really didn't want to buy a bunch of stuff that I already own, I decided to get a second opinion which yielded a coffee maker (covered with a thick layer of dust but worked fine) and a toaster (appeared new). She also said that she would put aside some dishes for me to pick up later. When I went down to get the dishes none had been put aside, but the front desk clerk (different one) told me she would put some aside for me – that they needed to be washed. When I went back down they weren't there. The front desk clerk made the same offer, but rather than be a prisoner of hope I just said, “never mind.” We bought a few things at Wal-Mart which is about 3 miles away. Homeless guy – There was a homeless guy living on the landing of the back staircase. He was extremely polite, and he didn't ask for any financial assistance. He left the back door propped open with a stick and charged his cell phone at the outlet in the hall outside our room. Toilet incident – One night my friend must have used a little too much toilet paper and the toilet got clogged. He went down to the front desk but came back empty-handed. I went down. The front desk person said tha there weren't any and tried to put it off until the morning. I would not accept that, and after a considerable wait they (there were actually 2 staff on duty) turned one up. I deployed the plunger and cleared the clog. Pool (hearsay) - This is entirely hearsay based on a conversation I had with a long term resident while I was waiting for a plunger to be located. Apparently, there was some sort of significant plumbing issue that caused waste waste to flow from the building and drain into the pool. According to the resident the pool has been out of commission since then. I stayed in November/December and didn't notice the pool. I have no way of verifying her story, but I believed her. Fire – Perhaps one of the reasons that it took a while for the clerk to return with the plunger was because there was the smell of smoke on our floor (4th). No alarms went off. The smell was pretty bad at the other end of the hall but didn't get down to my end. I went to bed because I was tired after dealing with the plunger incident and dreamt that my prior house was on fire. Cleanliness – A bunch of the reviews (should have read them before booking) mention a roach infestation. I did see one roach which I killed. The room had an odd odor. The chrome was coming off of the bathroom sink faucet and water leaked from the handle of the kitchen sink faucet assembly. Laundry/Sauna/Exercise room – A fine mist emanated from the heater in the laundry room (which was also the exercise room). This, combined with the heat from the washers and dryers turned the room into a sauna, Walls (mirrors) and floors were covered with a fog of water droplets. The sauna amenity is not even advertised on the website, so this was a bonus feature. I did not attempt to make use of the treadmill, so I can't report on that except to say that the 100% humidity can't be good for it, and it certainly wouldn't have been comfortable to work out in that environment. Breakfast - “Free breakfast” is advertised on the website under “Amenities and Services” It consisted of coffee and a wicker basket with granola bars. There was a “Breakfast room” which appeared to be used for storage. Staff – The staff were mostly nice. They were generally willing to interrupt their private phone conversations (in the back office) if they noticed you on their monitor. As noted above, they aren't particularly helpful and will happily push any issues off to the next person's shift. They uniformly had an extremely low opinion of the management, and this opinion seemed to be well-earned. Final thoughts – I rated the location as 3 out of 5. The location is fine. It's a short walk to MARTA. As for everything else related to this hotel, one star is a bit too high. You may wonder why we stayed for the full stay and didn't switch hotels. I suppose that I wonder that, too, but switching is a pain and I really wanted to save money by using the kitchen. Of course the extra cost of the room and buying some kitchenware obliterated most of that savings, We'll see if we're able to get any satisfaction there on the room pricing. I'm not particularly hopeful.

Internet connectivity sketchy. Spent 23 min w/tech spt but the connection didn’t last that long for informal email browsing. Property allows early checkin as available and has a minimal breakfast. I picked this location as it was next door to subway stop. We couldn’t hear the subway. Dishes are not automatically in unit; one has to ask for them. Public areas are very worn for a newish property. Lobby bathroom locked due to vagrants in the area. Very disappointed as first time chain guest. Will def try other extended providers instead.

terrific location, just steps from MARTA train/ bus lines, restaurants, groceries, pharmacies...everything! take bus, share-ride, or walk ~ 0.5mi to Lenox/ Phipps Malls. GM Charles Lampton sets a high bar for his staff!

Really great place to stay!! The location is great!! The staff members are absolutely amazing!!! Not to far from where I work. I definitely recommend staying here. Anytime I call and need anything they make sure to get it done at a reasonable time.

I just want to say this location is very convenient. But even better, the customer service of the manager Charles is so outstanding, words can’t explain. So much hospitality & respect. That’s an amazing guy. People like him are needed in hospitality businesses all over. Based off him alone, I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could honestly.
